01 / Questions worth asking early

Useful feedback.
While there’s time to act.

Your team knows the product inside out. A fresh pair of experienced eyes can help find the assumptions, awkward moments and unanswered questions that are easy to miss.

01

Before the first impression.

Can someone get from the box to a useful result? Look at setup, instructions, controls and the points where the experience becomes harder than it needs to be.

02

Beyond the spec sheet.

What feels useful in everyday use, and what gets in the way? Explore the features, handling and trade-offs that matter for your intended customer.

03

Before you commit.

Which questions should the next version answer? Bring a working prototype, a pre-production unit or a proposed update, with the development decisions you need to make.

02 / The deliverable

A detailed report.
A clearer next move.

A private product evaluation your team can work through. Clear observations, honest thoughts and practical priorities, with enough context to understand how each conclusion was reached.

The report records the sample and conditions tested. It does not claim to predict every customer’s experience or guarantee a successful launch.

Shape your evaluation brief
  1. 01

    The short version

The strongest parts, the main concerns and the decisions worth making next.

  2. 02

    What was tested

The sample and firmware or software version, testing dates, agreed scenarios and practical limits.

  3. 03

    What happened

Documented observations, supporting photos or captures where useful, and steps to reproduce issues where possible.

  4. 04

    What it means

Friction points and trade-offs, with observed behaviour separated from personal preference and interpretation.

  5. 05

    What to improve

Prioritised recommendations, why they matter, and questions for your team to investigate further.

03 / From brief to findings

Start with
the right questions.

A focused brief makes the feedback more useful. We agree what you need to learn and the work required to answer it.

  1. 01

    Agree the questions

Tell us what you are developing, its stage and the decisions you need help with. We agree the scope, sample handling, confidentiality, timing and fee before work starts.

  2. 02

    Put it to use

Alex works through the agreed scenarios with the supplied sample. The aim is to understand the experience and document what happens, including what works well.

  3. 03

Give the team a useful report

You receive a private written evaluation. A team walkthrough, competitor comparison or testing of a revised sample can be agreed separately in the brief.

The reviewer behind the report

On the desk.
Out in the world.

Alex creates the reviews and comparisons on Tech It Easy and 5 by Alex. That work means explaining products clearly, noticing the everyday compromises and asking the questions people have before buying.

Testing can go beyond a tabletop demonstration where the agreed use case calls for it. Setup, handling and real-world use matter alongside the headline feature list.

Before you send a sample

A few useful
details.

Clear expectations make a better project. Start with a non-confidential outline of the product and the questions you need answered.

What kinds of product can you evaluate?

Consumer technology is the focus: phones, wearables, audio, desk accessories and related hardware or companion software. Share the product and your questions first; we will confirm whether the experience and available setup are a good fit.

Is this an independent review?

It is paid consultancy commissioned by your brand, with independent judgment. The fee pays for the work, not a positive conclusion. The findings go privately to your team; this is not a public review or an endorsement for your advertising.

Can we share an unreleased product?

Confidentiality and any NDA are agreed before unreleased material or a sample is sent. Start with a non-confidential outline. We also agree shipping, return arrangements, access requirements and any restrictions on testing.

Is this laboratory testing or a consumer study?

This is hands-on evaluation by an experienced technology reviewer. It is not accredited laboratory testing, safety or regulatory certification, engineering validation, or a representative consumer panel. Specialist tests need the appropriate qualified provider.

How much does it cost, and how long will it take?

Each project is quoted around the product, testing questions, time needed and report scope. Any comparisons, follow-up discussion or retesting are agreed in advance. We confirm the schedule once we understand the brief and sample availability.

Could the product appear on your channels later?

Any later Tech It Easy or 5 by Alex coverage is decided separately around editorial suitability. Testing does not promise publication or a favourable verdict. Any relevant prior paid consultancy would be disclosed where applicable; confidentiality and editorial independence need to be compatible.
